Jensen Huang
Jensen Huang founded NVIDIA in 1993 and has served since his inception as president and chief executive officer.
Since its founding, NVIDIA has pioneered accelerated computing. The company’s invention of the GPU in 1999 sparked the growth of the PC gaming market and redefined computer graphics. Over the last 10 years, Jensen Huang has pursued a clear strategic thinking to lay out the strategy at Nvidia. He recognized the potential of GPUs in AI and machine learning, leading Nvidia to become a leader in the field of deep learning and neural networks. By steering the company towards AI-focused solutions, Huang anticipated a major technological shift, enabling Nvidia to dominate the market with GPUs optimized for AI workloads.
Jensen Huang’s creativity is evident in Nvidia’s development of the CUDA programming model, which simplified GPU programming. This strategic move made Nvidia GPUs accessible to a broader range of developers, fostering innovation across various industries.
Huang’s leadership style is defined by 2 core principles: intellectual honesty and the tolerance to take risks. The leadership style of Jensen Huang was built on the early near failure of Nvidia. He and his partners had raised the capital, hired the team, and developed the product. However, the product they had worked so hard to develop, that they believed in, did not work. But with his diligence and perseverance, NVIDIA survived and outstripped the competition.
Jensen Huang’s creativity, strategic thinking, and leadership skills serve as an inspiration for us at FCC.
